शाहरूख खान का जन्‍म 2 नवम्बर 1965 को दिल्‍ली में हुआ था। उनके पिता का नाम मीर ताज मोहम्‍मद खान है। उनके पिता पेशावर, पाकिस्‍तान से थे। उनकी मां का नाम लतीफ फातिमा है। उनकी एक बड़ी बहन भी हैं जिनका नाम शहनाज लालारूख है और वे भी शाहरूख के साथ मुंबई में ही रहती हैं। शाहरूख ने एक बार ट्विटर पर जानकारी देते हुए बताया था कि उनके पिता पठानी और मां हैदराबादी हैं।

शाहरूख खान की शुरूआती पढ़ाई सेंट कोलम्‍बस स्‍कूल, दिल्‍ली से हुई थी। उन्‍होंने स्‍नातक की पढ़ाई पूरी करने के लिए हंसराज कॉलेज ज्‍वाइन किया लेकिन उनका ज्‍यादातर समय दिल्‍ली थियेटर एक्‍शन ग्रुप में बीतता था जहां से उन्‍होंने थियेटर निर्देशक बैरी जॉन के सानिध्‍य में अभिनय के गुर सीखे। इसके बाद उन्‍होंने जामिया मीलिया इस्‍लामिया से जनसंचार में स्‍नाकोत्‍तर की पढ़ाई शुरू तो की लेकिन अपने अभिनय करियर को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए उन्‍होंने यह छोड़ दिया।

शाहरूख के करियर की शुरूआत टेलीविजन से हुई थी। दिल दरिया, फौजी, सर्कस जैसे सीरियल्‍स से उन्‍होंने अपनी पहचान बनाईा उनके फिल्‍मी करियर की शुरूआत फिल्‍म 'दीवाना' से हुई थी जिसके लिए उन्‍हें सर्वश्रेष्‍ठ नवोदित अभिनेता का फिल्‍मफेयर पुरस्‍कार भी मिला था। उस समय यह फिल्‍म सुपरहिट हुई और इसी फिल्‍म ने शाहरूख को हिन्‍दी फिल्‍म इंडस्‍ट्री में स्‍थापित किया। इसके बाद शाहरूख ने कभी पीछे मुड़कर नहीं देखा और वे लगातार सफलता की सीढि़यों पर चढ़ते गए। धीरे धीरे वे आलोचकों के साथ साथ जनता की पसंद बन गए और लड़कियों के बीच तो काफी प्रसिद्ध हो गए।

शाहरूख एक ऐसे अभिनेता रहें हैं जिनके प्रशंसक हर उम्र और हर वर्ग के लोग हैं।, जिन्हें अनौपचारिक रूप में एस आर के नाम से सन्दर्भित किया जाता, एक भारतीय फ़िल्म अभिनेता है। अक्सर मीडिया में इन्हें "बॉलीवुड का बादशाह", "किंग ख़ान", "रोमांस किंग" और किंग ऑफ़ बॉलीवुड नामों से पुकारा जाता है। ख़ान ने रोमैंटिक नाटकों से लेकर ऐक्शन थ्रिलर जैसी शैलियों में 72 हिन्दी फ़िल्मों में अभिनय किया है।फ़िल्म उद्योग में उनके योगदान के लिये उन्होंने तीस नामांकनों में से चौदह फ़िल्मफ़ेयर पुरस्कार जीते हैं। वे और दिलीप कुमार ही ऐसे दो अभिनेता हैं जिन्होंने फ़िल्मफ़ेयर सर्वश्रेष्ठ अभिनेता पुरस्कार 8 बार जीता है। 2005 में भारत सरकार ने उन्हें भारतीय सिनेमा के प्रति उनके योगदान के लिए पद्म श्री से सम्मानित किया।

वेल्थ रिसर्च फ़ॉर्म वैल्थ एक्स के मुताबिक किंग ख़ान पहले सबसे अमीर भारतीय अभिनेता बन गए हैं। फ़र्म ने अभिनेता की कुल संपत्ति 3660 करोड़ रूपए आंकी थी लेकिन अब 4000 करोड़ बताई जाती है।

Shahrukh Khan was born on 2 November 1965 in Delhi. His father's name is Mir Taj Mohammad Khan. His father was from Peshawar, Pakistan. His mother's name is Latif Fatima.
